Breakfast oats are a staple, keeping you full and cosy, you can always change up the fruit toppings as per seasonal changes.

Add oats and milk to a pot and bring to a boil.

Add cinnamon, maple syrup and vanilla extract and stir through.

Continue to stir until a nice creamy consistency with some of the milk reduced, this takes about 5 minutes.

Once oats are cooked, take them off the heat and continue to stir. Add sliced strawberries and almond butter and enjoy.
Frozen berries have just as many health benefits and antioxidants as fresh berries and are a lot more affordable. If you don't have fresh berries available, use 1/2 cup of frozen berries. Cinnamon is a warming spice that can help to balance blood sugars. Oats contain beta glucans and resistant starch fibre, both contribute to great gut health and help the gut microbes produce anti inflammatory markers.
